The other ~20% either went to #automatix or reported bugs on thier forums or we or i was ablet o help them fix it. This is not first off just on upgrade that is just one example. This is first, not a flame or meant to be one. second. the reason for this post was that recommending automatix for ubuntu users is NOT supported by Ubuntu and can be dangerous. If you saw this sa anything more than a post to show 1. Ubuntu hit ny times newspaper and 2. That people are suggesting non supported apps, In the sense that it makes people helping out in IRC or Fourms that much harder.
I have no personal opinion on automatix. Im the Ubuntu community has a right to know what it can do and that it is unsupported by Ubuntu. If you dont like what i blogged about that sounds personal to me. I have no need to defend what i said other than the way i worded it.
As for the ~20% If it was not fixed it really doesnt matter where they went for help, since i am not a person they have to answer to, most dont tell me where they go for help, The full point of blog. 1. to let ubuntu community know that we hit one of the biggest newspapers in the USA 2. People/newpapers/or any other article, are suggesting to use apps to install codecs that we have in our repos or other repos that have been made just for that. If you noticed in my email to Larry it stated where and how you can install codecs, personally if you can download and install an app you can enable universe/multiverse and grab the libs/codecs needed for most multimedia. the official repos include a meta package for multimedia playback/editing (or whatever is in it)
